PM Modi makes 'Thank You' Call for Uddhav Thackeray: Know why?

Mumbai: In an unusual gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the courtesy call to BJP supporter and Shiv Sena Supremo Uddhav Thackeray to express thank for lending support to NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh in RS. Singh won the election for the post of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman on Thursday with bagging 125 votes.

Top sources stated that PM Modi phone call hinted smoothness in ties after BJP president  Amit Shah met Thackeray at the latter’s home in June.

Worth mention here Amit Shah had also called up Thackeray on August 7 for supporting JD(U) leader Harivansh Singh. Singh defeated UPA nominee BK Hariprasad by 20 votes in Thursday’s polls in the Rajya Sabha. Hariprasad got 105 votes.

The allies have been in violent dispute on a number of issues, as scornful editorials in Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamna took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his economic and foreign policies.

Worth mention here The Shiv Sena and the BJP contested the May 28 bypolls to Palghar Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra independently. They engaged in a harsh campaign against each other. After facing crush in the Palghar bypoll at the hands of the BJP, the Shiv Sena dubbed its ally as its "biggest political enemy".

The Shiv Sena has already announced that it will go it alone in the 2019 Lok sabha Elections.
