New Delhi [India], Mar. 17 (NT): PM Narendra Modi visited an exhibition organized by the annual 'Krishi Unnati Mela' at Indian Agricultural Research Institute in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address farmers on Saturday 17.03.2018 at the annual Krishi Unnati Mela at Indian Agricultural Research Institute in the national capital on Saturday.

He will unveil a portal on organic farming and lay the foundation stone of 25 Krishi Vigyan Kendras.

The Prime Minister will also bestow the 'Krishi Karman' and 'Deen Dayal Upadhya Krishi Vigyan Protsahan' awards on the occasion.

The theme of the fair is doubling farmer's income by 2022.

'Krishi Unnati Mela" is aimed at creating awareness about the latest technological developments in the agriculture and allied sectors among farmers.

Theme pavilions on doubling farmers’ income, live demonstrations on micro-irrigation, wastewater utilisation, animal husbandry and fisheries are among the major attractions of the fair.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said, “The objective of the 3-day mela is to create awareness to farmers about the latest agriculture-related technological developments”.

The three-day Annual Krishi Unnati Mela is being organized between March 16 -18, 2018 at Mela ground, IARI, Pusa, New Delhi

“Hon’ble Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Jaivik Kheti portal and lay the foundation stone of 25 KVKs(Krishi Vikas Kendra) on March 17, 2018, “  said the Press release.

The Minister also informed that during the mela latest agriculture and allied sector technologies will be displayed at more than 600 stalls.

 The theme area will display different kinds of organic farming techniques like natural farming and eco-farming.

The objective of the mela is to create awareness about the latest agricultural technological developments and receive feedback from the agricultural community, which helps in designing the Institute’s future research strategy.
