PM hoists the national flag at the Red Fort to mark the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of ‘Azad Hind Sarkar’

New Delhi [India], Oct 20 (NT): Today is the 75th anniversary of Azad Hind force led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. On this occasion, his followers throughout the country are remembering him in their own way and are celebrating this as festival. The country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort to mark the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of ‘Azad Hind Sarkar’, today. During this, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and LK Advani were also present.

In his address remembering Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, PM Modi said that Netaji had promised an India where everyone has equal rights & equal opportunities. He had promised a prosperous nation which was proud of its traditions, development in all areas. He had promised to uproot 'divide & rule'. Even after so many years those dreams remain unfulfilled.

PM Modi inaugurated the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri, Delhi. Along with this, he also paid homage to the policemen who had died in different accidents and incidents in the country.

October 21 is observed as the Police Commemoration Day every year in memory of the policemen killed at Hot Springs in Ladakh by the Chinese troops on this date in 1959.

The NPM has been constructed in recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by police personnel since independence. The memorial has been erected on 6.12 acres of land which represents all State/UT Police Forces and Central Police Organisations of the nation.

Worth mention here Since Independence, 34,844 police personnel have lost their lives in the line duty, with 424 died this year. These brave soldiers lost their lives in the fight against terrorism in various geographical regions such as Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and LWE-affected regions of the country.
