Neerav Modi’s lawyer has defended him over the allegations of Modi being a fugitive and is absconding from India to escape Indian authorities. Modi’s lawyer asked “on what basis is Nirav Modi branded fugitive.

“Please explain to me who is a fugitive? He has been summoned to either appear in person or through authorised representatives. You have branded him as a fugitive on what basis, please tell me. There are so many people who are out of country because they have global business,” said Vijay Aggarwal to media.

On Nirav Modi’s absence in the country, he cited “business purposes” as the reason for the same. “This is your perception that he is absconder. He is not absconding. He has a global business and he went out of India for business purpose. Now his passport has been revoked. His family members, some of them are foreign nationals, also stay abroad most of the time,” said Aggarwal.

Aggarwal told he is sure that everthing will sort out once the CBI files chargesheet and goes to court. He termed the conclusion of the case with the proverb “Khoda Pahaad, nikli chuhiya.”

Nirav Modi is one of the accused in PNB fraud case which started seven years back in 2011.
