Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Jan. 12 (NT): ISRO successfully launched its 100th satellite ‘PSLV-C40 / Cartosat-2 Series Satellite’ from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota Island of iAndhra Pradesh on Friday at 09:28 Hrs (IST).

As per the reports of ISRO officials, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) used PSLV-C40 launch vehicle. This is carrying 31 satellites, together with three from India and 28 from six other nations.

The weather observation PSLV-C40 / Cartosat-2 Series Satellite and 29 others will be inserted into a 505-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit following seventeen and a half minutes since its takeoff.

Afterward, the payload Microsat developed by the ISRO will be taken down to a lower orbit at 359-kilometer altitude and launched by applying the 'multiple engine switch-on' technique. This satellite is the seventh remote sensing satellite in this series and has the work-life of five years with uses the operation like monitoring urban and rural applications, coastal land use regulation, managing services for road networks and water distribution, detecting changes in geographical features and creation of land by using maps.

The last launch of IRNSS-1H - India's first surreptitiously built satellite -- on August 31, 2017, had registered his failure due to a freak accident. This is the 42nd flight of the PSLV Series Satellite Mission. (NT)
