Padmavat clash: SC moved against Karni Sena members

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], January 25 (NT): Two contempt petitions were lodged in the Supreme Court on Thursday against three members of Karni Sena and four state DGPs for allegedly violating the Apex court's order and disrupting Justice in association with the screening of film Padmavati.

The apex court had lately dismissed to modify its earlier order and asked the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh government to exhibit the movie in its respective theaters in their states and ordered them to maintain law and order situations.

The three-judge bench of the top court, under the headship of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, noted we would hear it on Monday.

 As per reports One contempt petition was lodged by Tehseen Poonawal against four states DGPs.

He argued in his petition, that four states had been abortive in its duty to maintain law and order in the case.

Thus, Poonawala sought the apex court's way to initiate contempt proceedings against those persons concerned in maintaining law and order situation.

The second contempt petition was lodged by Vineet Dhanda, seeking to initiate contempt proceedings in opposition to the members of three Karni Sena.

Jaiprakash Dhanda, lawyer appearing for Vineet, claimed in its petition to kick off the contempt proceedings against three members of Karni sena - Lokendra Singh Kalvi,  Sooraj Pal and Karan Singh -  for their alleged act in refusing to comply the apex court's order.

SC would now hear the heated discussion on January 29, Monday. (NT)
