Nawaz Sharif, the expel Pakistan PM, and his daughter and political heir Maryam Nawaz, both sentenced to long-lasting jail terms in absentia, are due to return to Pakistan today in a high-stakes gamble to galvanise their stressed party ahead of a July 25 general election.

Embarrassed former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be fluff up away by helicopter to Islamabad when he returned in a few hours to Pakistan from London.

His daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years in prison as she has allegations of corruption too.

Pak Authorities have mobilized more than 10,000 police officers ahead of their onset and plan to block roads with shipping containers to close down the city of Lahore. Followers of Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party say they will march to the airport in rebelliousness of a ban on all public rallies.

Sharif is returning from Britain one week after an anti-corruption court handed him a 10-year jail term over the purchase of luxury London flats and sentenced his daughter to seven years in top-security prison. Their arrival could shake up an election race blemished by claims Pakistan's powerful military was skewing the contest in favor of ex-cricket icon Imran Khan-led- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
