New Delhi: With the peace hope Pakistan's newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought a recommencement of talks between the two arch rivals. He has also sought a dialogue between Shah Mehmood Qureshi - current Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, with EAM Sushma Swaraj in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), as Times of India reported.

Khan's letter to PM Modi appeared as a response to PM Modi's communiqué to him in which Indian Prime minister  had sought a positive and meaningful engagement between the two neighboring nations. Earlier the cricketer turned politician Khan ahead of his victory speech had advocated for a meeting between India and Pakistan .He also said that his government was keen to take two steps towards harmony and peace of both nations if India took one.

Reports suggested that Khan has sought a continuation of the bilateral talks launched in 2015. The same was poised following Pathankot attack. In the letter, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Khan has said that the outstanding issues —such as terrorism, Kashmir — between India and Pakistan could be set on only through comprehensive discussion.

In response to Prime Minister Modi's letter last month, Khan took his official twitter handle and wrote, "To move forward Pakistan and India must dialogue and resolve their conflicts incl(uding) Kashmir." Khan's India approach has been grabbed the headlines ever since he came to power in August, while there were initial reports suggested that his Indian counterpart would be invited for Imran Khan's oath taking ceremony but Pakistan's Foreign Ministry had snubbed the reports.
