Pakistan once again defies the ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir. On Sunday morning Pakistani personnel break the borderline, triggering heavy gunfight between the two sides in Pargwal sector of Akhnoor.

Pargwal police in charge Brij Lal Sharma said that “On Saturday midnight around 2’0 clock the Pakistani rangers started firing gunshots” in which 3 civilians also got injured.

An official informed that the Pakistani Rangers opened sniper fire on the battalion of 33 in the pargwal sector. Jawan VK Pandey(27) & ASI SN Yadav (48) died on spot during the gunfire.

The 3 civilians died were identified as Sulakshana Devi (25), Bansi Lal (40) from Pargwal, and Balwinder Singh (22) of Jattan De Kothe.

On May 29, the DGMOs of India and Pakistan agreed to “fully implement” the ceasefire pact of 2003 in “letter and spirit” forthwith to stop border skirmishes in Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan is known for violating ceasefire and once again they proved that they cant stick to their words.

After the DGMOs of the two countries spoke to each other, hope rekindled among border residents who had started returning to their homes but the latest incident would trigger fresh concerns among them.
