JAMMU: Officer among 4 BSF personnel killed in Pak Rangers firing

A BSF officer on Wednesday informed that Four of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, and also an officer, were shot dead and three others were injured in a baseless firing by Pakistan Rangers on the International Border (IB) in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ram Awtar, IG, BSF, stated that the Pakistan Rangers initiated the firing along the international borders in Ramgarh on Tuesday night. Four personnel and an assistant commandant rank officer were shot dead while 3 others of our personnel suffered injuries."

He also informed that the Pakistan Rangers had recently assured of ceasefire along the borders but they violated it by initiating the firing.

SP Vaid, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his sincere consolation on the incident, via his Twitter handle.

DGP tweeted "In Ramgarh Jammu sector of IB, 4 BSF personnel were martyred including one Asstt Commandant & 5 injured due to firing from across. Our heart goes to those who lost their dear ones.”

A Police official informed that the firing began at 10:30 pm and continued till 4:30 am.

A similar violation took place on June 3, even after the meeting and agreement between the DGMO of the two countries.
