While convicting Indian citizen Kulbhushan Jadhav on false allegations of espionage and terrorism, the Pakistan army has sentenced him to death, but he had to face the international court (ICJ). Now the Pakistan government is going to file another written affidavit on July 17 in the ICJ on charges of India again. Jadhav is currently in Pakistan jail.

In the year 2017, 10 judges of ICJ were instructed to stop the execution of Jadhav until the completion of the hearing. The ICJ had on January 23 given the time limit for filing a counter affidavit in this matter to India and Pakistan. In his first application, India has demanded justice for Jadhav being innocuous.

According to the Pakistan newspaper The Express Tribune, last week, Pakistani attorney Khwar Qureshi gave detailed information of Kulbhushan Jadhav case to PM Nasir-ul-Mulk. Qureshi in the ICJ is debating this matter. Apart from them, Pakistani attorney general Khalid Javed Khan and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.

According to the report, Khawar Qureshi has prepared the draft of the second letter to be filed in the ICJ. After this second affidavit is filed, the ICJ will announce the date of hearing which is likely to be heard next year. Senior advocate, the international affairs expert, told the Tribune that this year's Jadhav case is unlikely to be heard. The ICJ has fixed the date of the trial till March-April next year, so this matter can come before the international court only after the summer of 2019.

After convicting the death sentence of Kulbhushan Jadhav by the Pak army, India reached the ICJ last year and imposed a diplomatic link with Jadhav on Pakistan alleging a violation of the Vienna Treaty. On December 13 last year, Pakistan submitted the first counter-affidavit in ICJ, on the plea of India that the Vienna Treaty is given at the statutory level and not on crimes like espionage. Pak said that Jadhav had entered Pakistan in the passport of a Muslim man. While Jadhav has described the hanging sentence given by the Pak army as ridiculous.
