The renowned actress of Indian cinema Parveen Babi born on 4th April 1949.  She was glamorous, and one of the first “sex symbols” of Indian cinema. Her mysterious persona, which magnified due to her untimely and mysterious death, has enamored Bollywood fans for decades. Parveen Babi, She was born in Junagadh, Gujarat in the historical Pathan Muslim community and came from the long lineage of the royal Babi Dynasty. Despite giving a flop movie in her debut career she became one of the biggest stars in the 70s. From classic blockbusters like Deewar and Amar Akbar Anthony to Namak Halaal and Shaan – she starred in some of the biggest hits of the 70s and 80s.

There was something very tangible about her all-pervading persona. Even though she was often compared with Zeenat Aman, she stood her own. In a lot of ways, both these women were iconoclasts. 

They changed the way mainstream Bollywood heroines were perceived by the audiences. Babi, who was mostly seen in Western-wear in a sea of saree or salwar-clad Bollywood heroines, could easily portray the girl next door, but one who was way more glamorous.
