Petrol, diesel at lower price if included in GST: CM Fadnavis

On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the fuel price will come down the point the Centre builds an agreement to bring petrol and diesel under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

While replying to rising petrol and diesel prices in the state, ANI reports that Devendra Fadnavis said that the government has reduced our taxes already but now rates are going up due to increasing crude oil prices in international market. So the government is trying to make an agreement in GST Council on bringing petroleum under GST, that will reduce the price.

Earlier on Tuesday, All India Petroleum Dealers Association President Ajay Bansal said that they can only regulate the increasing fuel price by degrading VAT of state and central taxes. On Wednesday, the petrol prices raised by 30 paise in most metropolitans, leaving common man bothered.

Whereas in Mumbai, petrol was sold at Rs. 85 per liter, and in New Delhi, the rate has crossed Rs. 77 for a liter. Following the increase in fuel prices workers of several opposition parties including Congress, All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Trinamool Congress (TMC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) are staging protests in different parts of the country.
