In the case of rising rape and sexual assault with young girls in the country, the central cabinet has already given green signal to the death penalty. Now boys with less than 12 years of age will be punished for doing wrong or sexual harassment.

On the proposal of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Law Ministry has approved the intervention of the Pocso Act to end the gap between the minor and the girl. After approval from the cabinet, the bill will be introduced for this amendment in the Pocso Act in the monsoon session starting from Wednesday. 

To prevent crimes against young girls, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenders has already amended the Act through the Cabinet Ordinance. On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave the green signal to be presented in parliament to approve the law to replace this Ordinance.

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that now Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill-2012 will be introduced in the monsoon session. With this bill punishment of hanging off the rape of children below 12 years of age, the punishment has also been increased on the basis of crime against the adolescent girls of the same age group.
