Police arrested a conman who is pretending to be a restaurant chain owner. The conman took a city job aspirant for a long drive in a cab on Friday and later decamped with his mobile phone.

Kshijit, a 29-year-old resident of Yeshwanthpur, filed a complaint at Cubbon Park police station on Saturday.

In his complaint, Kshijit stated he had posted his resume on online job portals such as Naukri.com and Quikr.

Conman introduced himself as Shiva from Palakkad in Kerala, called him on Friday morning and told him that he found his resume on a job site and wanted to meet him at Shanthinagar.

Shiva took him in a private cab and told him that he wanted to offer him a job at his restaurant in Kempegowda International Airport.

kshitij said, “He wanted me to join as restaurant manager at one of his outlets located inside KIA. He took me to HAL, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Koramangala and showed me properties. Shiva also mentioned that he owned restaurants in Chennai. Upon reaching MG Road, he asked me for my phone, claiming that his phone was having network issues, and escaped."

The Cubbon Park police have taken up the case and are verifying CCTV footage in and around M.G. Road.
