" Pai was asked what steps should be taken to prevent the sale of counterfeit products by e-commerce site like Flipkart and Amazon, which sells online products.

Just a few days ago, a US brand of lifestyle and charm, shoes had filed a case accusing Flipkart and its four vendors for selling counterfeit products. Although e-commerce company Flipkart and Amazon have dismissed the sale of any kind of counterfeit product in the online market in one of their statements.

"The e-commerce marketplaces need to put in place processes to ensure quality goods and monitor those sites selling fake products. They should also take down sites selling such fake products," he said.

"Can we make e-commerce 100 percent fake proof? No. It is not possible. It has not happened anywhere, will not happen in India, because of a large number of sellers, selling products on online platforms," he said.
