New Delhi [India], Sept 11 (NT):Regardless Opposition's 'Bharat Bandh' call, fuel prices continued its hike march on Tuesday with petrol being retailed at Rs 80.87 and diesel at Rs 72.97 per litre in the national capital Delhi.

Delhities noticed hike of 14 paise per litre in both the petrol and diesel prices. Meanwhile, in The industrial capital of India- Mumbai, petrol and diesel have touched a new high mark of Rs 88.26 and Rs 77.47 per litre respectively.

In Chennai, the prices of petrol and diesel were up by 14 and 15 paise respectively. Petrol is priced at Rs 84.05 a litre and Rs 77.13 a liter. In Kolkata, petrol and diesel prices are up by 14 paise to Rs 83.75 and Rs 75.82 respectively.

Earlier a day the grand old Congress party along with other Opposition parties called a countrywide strike across the country on Monday to protest against the historic rising prices of petrol and diesel and the constantly falling value of the rupee against the US dollar.

Worth mention here as many as 21 opposition parties, both regional and national, extended their support to the countrywide bandh. (NT)
