Rahul Gandhi to address public meeting in poll-bound Tripura today

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will seek votes for his grand old party in poll-bound Tripura on Friday on the last day of campaigning.

Gandhi will address a public meeting at Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya Stadium ground, District Unakoti, in Tripura, a few hours before campaigning ends in the state.

The Congress is seeking to drive out the Manik Sarkar-led CPM government in the northeastern state. While Sarkar has been the chief minister of the state since 1998 and his party the CPM has been in power in Tripura since 1993.

Tripura will go to polls on 18 February 2018  to elect its 60-member state Assembly. The results for the polls will be declared on 3 March.

A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two rallies on the last day of campaigning in Tripura. The state goes to polls on Sunday. He said that the egotism of Left government has become a barrier to development and welfare of people in Tripura.

PM also promised the people that once the BJP comes in power in the state, it will implement the seventh pay recommendations like they have been implemented in the other states of the country.
