New Delhi (India) August  3(NT): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Rajya Sabha expressed the stand PM Modi led Center Government over NRC Assam.

In his address during the discussion in ongoing monsoon parliament session Rajnath Singh stated that the procedure of NRC started in 1985 through the Assam accord when the late Rajiv Gandhi ji was the PM and the decision to update was taken by Dr.Manmohan Singh ji in 2005.

He asserted that the whole procedure of NRC Assam was undertaken under supervision of Supreme Court of India. Echoing same sentiments which was earlier said by BJP President Amit shah, Singh assertively noted that that its a draft and not final list again. He assured  that everyone will get chance to appeal and it’s a totally fair process.

“Unwarranted accusations are unfortunate”, HM Rajnath Singh lauded in Rajya Sabha.

Rajnath Singh also stated, “I am saying this again, that no coercive action will be taken against anyone in any situation”. He alleged the opposition that attempts to create an atmosphere of fear are condemnable.

Meanwhile, On the issue of NRC draft after creating high-voltage political drama at Silchar airport yesterday, six TMC detained leaders left from Assam while the remaining two will leave later in the day, informed Cachar district DC.
