Home Minister Rajnath Singh himself is keeping a watch on the whole situation. Rajnath Singh is on a tour of Kerala, where Tourism Minister K.G. Alfonso carried out an air survey of flood-affected areas. He is reviewing the relief and rescue operations of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan, the state government ministers, chief secretaries, central agencies and other top officials of the state administration from central government agencies and the state government.

Rain and floods in Kerala have created a terrible catastrophe. Here, 180 people have died since the rainy season. All these deaths have happened since May 29. If talk of relief in the coming days, then there is no such hope because, by August 14, many districts of Kerala are experiencing heavy rain.

In view of the flood situation, the Center has deployed 14 teams of NDRF in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Idukki districts. These teams are also working with the distribution of relief materials with medical assistance. Along with this, other teams of NDRF have also been deployed. So far 398 people have been rescued.

During this period, 718 people have died during the monsoon flood and rain-related incidents in seven states. According to the National Emergency Response Center (NERC) of the Home Ministry, 171 people in Uttar Pradesh, 170 people in West Bengal, 178 in Kerala and 139 people in Maharashtra have died.
