Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): On Wednesday, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Jabalpur, Rakesh Singh was sworn in as the party's new Madhya Pradesh state president. Singh will be replacing Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan after he has stepped down from the post yesterday. Chauhan took this decision because he wishes to work for his constituency, Khandwa. He wants to serve his area for a duration of time hence it led him to make the decision.

After the party's core committee meeting, Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan told the ANI reporters that, he had served as a Madhya Pradesh BJP party chief for the past four years. And from now he wants to work for his constituency. He could not manage to visit Khandawa for the past four years due to work schedule. He has spoken to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and requested him to relieve him from the party post.

In the 2014 general elections, Chauhan was re-elected. He was elected for 16th Lok Sabha for a fifth term. In another development, Bhartiya Janta Party Rajasthan president Ashok Parnami also resigned from his position earlier today, citing personal reasons.
