Washington D.C. (USA): Robert Guillaume, recognized for his majestic voice as Rafiki in Disney's 'The Lion King', passed away on Tuesday, October 24 at the age of 89.

Guillaume was lost his battle of life due to prostate cancer.He died in the comfort of the home he shared with his wife, Donna Brown Guillaume.

Other than Rafiki, which he persisted to voice through several sequels, video games and even a television series, the stage and screen actor was also acknowledged for his awesome performance in 'Sports Night', where he suffered a stroke in 1999.

He achieved two Emmy Awards for portraying the acidic butler 'Benson' on a duo of ABC sitcoms.

Guillaume's Emmy for excellent actor in a comedy in 1985 made him the only black man to come first in that category. He is also time-honored the supporting comedy actor trophy in 1979, achieving six nominations in all for playing Benson.

 'Benson' Guillaume also got a Tony nomination for best actor in a musical in 1977 for performing Nathan Detroit in a revitalization of 'Guys and Dolls'.
