The Central Bureau of Investigation today took in custody a Class XI student of Gurgaon, Haryana's Ryan International School in links with the dreadful murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur.

The arrest, the details of which are at present unclear, comes as a key twist in the Pradyuman Thakur murder case, a case that took hold of national headlines. The CBI is likely to release an official statement later today morning.

The father of the arrested Class XI student confirmed the arrest but claimed there was a conspiracy to cast his son in this high profile case.

The father said his boy was inquired by the CBI for a whole day at the agency's headquarters in New Delhi before being in custody. As per the father, his son was the first one to mark Pradyuman on the day of the murder.

Although there is no official statement from the CBI on this, the father told India Today that investigators said his son wanted school exams postponed and so murdered Pradyuman in order to get Ryan International School to declare a holiday.

The father has also allegedly claimed that his boy was tortured by the CBI and he wasn't permitted to meet his child before he was in custody.

On the other hand, sources within the Central Bureau of Investigation said India Today that the arrested minor has made a clean breast to killing Pradyuman. "We have material evidence as well," one source said.
