SC dismisses plea seeking cancellation of Indus Water Treaty

The Supreme Court in seeking cancellation of the Indus Water Treaty between India and Pakistan has dismissed a PIL today. The Delhi-based lawyer M. L. Sharma filed the plea.

The bench headed by  Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar as per the sources news said "Not finding any merit in the PIL of Sharma. We do not want to interfere," 

The lawyer in the plea urged the top court for cancelling the treaty on the ground that it was not a valid document.

Back in1960 the treaty was signed by  India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan President Ayub Khan which is one of the most liberal water-sharing pacts in the world.
