A very relief news coming for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat. The movie ‘Padmaavat’ will be releasing in all states, orders Supreme Court. The movie starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was facing ban in several states citing distortion of historical facts. However, according to fresh reports that are coming in Supreme Court has given its nod for the release in all states following a writ petition which was filed by Padmaavat producers in the wake of the protests in four states- Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In the petition, the producers argued that the Supreme Court had earlier clarified that a screening of a movie can be banned in a particular area only in relation to the law and order in that area. One cannot impose a complete ban. Minister Anil Vij had tweeted that Padmaavat was banned in Haryana. Vij tweeted, "Film Padmavati/Padmaavat banned in Haryana."

Meanwhile, Padmaavat is not the first movie to face such political repercussions. Movies like Aarakshan, Fire, Fanaa and My Name Is Khan were fellow victims as well. In the movie, Deepika plays the titular character Rani Padmini, Shahid plays Raja Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer will be seen as the menacing antagonist Alauddin Khilji. On December 30, 2017, the censor board finally cleared the movie with a UA certificate and the original title of Padmavati was changed to Padmaavat which the makers agreed to. Then came the announcement of the release date which shifted from December 1, 2017, to January 25, 2018.
