As per the recent studies made, some facts have been discussed regarding glaucoma. Scientists from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear and MIT have been studying the subject since a long while and they informed that earlier, the incurable eye disease was linked to an elevated eye pressure and the loss of vision. The causes of the diseases were never really known. Well, there has been a lot of research made on the same.

The research made regarding the same suggested that the loss of vision that is suffered by the patients of glaucoma is caused due to an immune response that is delivered by the body on exposure to bacteria, which leads to an elevated eye pressure and triggers the proteins responsible for heat shock.

These proteins are responsible for responding to stress.

The Memory T cells that are responsible to detect the antigen for the secondary response respond to the heat shock proteins and often attack the neurons in the retina, thinking it to be a foreign body.

This autoimmune disorder often causes vision disturbances, vomiting, and severe pain in the eyes. 

It has also been suggested that the eye pressure is just a risk factor, that informs that only some suffer elevated ocular issue, eye pressure. It is these people who often suffer from glaucoma.
