Just a few days before the 71st Independence Day, a general alert has been announced in the city of Amritsar. As per this general alert, strict security arrangements have been made in the city.

As per the information provided by the police officials, this general alert is in no way related to the 'Referendum 2020' event that had been scheduled for Sunday.

 

It has been informed that the 'Referendum 2020' shall probably be held at the Trafalgar Square in London.

This event has been organized by a United States-based Sikh separatist organization - Sikhs for Justice - that aims to emphasize the issues on 'London Declaration' for the referendum on the Indian state of Punjab.


SS Shrivastav, the Commissioner of police of Amritsar, in his alleged media interaction, informed that they have increased their checkpoints. He added that as per the information that has been provided to them, there is no planned activity in Amritsar, but the police would not allow any activity that is against law.

 

He added that there is no specific information provided about the event as far as Amritsar is concerned, but he and his team, have announced a general alert which happens around August 15.

Shrivastav also said that he does not feel that there any impact of the referendum in Amritsar.

Captain Amarinder Singh, the CM of Punjab asserted that nobody in Punjab is supporting the referendum 2020.
