Mumbai: Actress Shabana Azmi has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to ban Triple Talaq at once and said that this decision is a victory for the brave Muslim women of the country.

Shabana tweeted on Tuesday, "I welcome the Supreme Court decision on triple talaq. This is the victory of brave Muslim women, who have fought against it for many years. "

The Supreme Court ruled on three divorces with the majority of 3: 2. The verdict said that the tradition of divorce of the Muslim community is not 'unconstitutional', 'unilateral' and 'part of Islam'.

Shabana is also a social activist and she is active in the area of child development, AIDS and justice delivery. She has also raised voice against communalism in many of her plays.

Along with this, she has worked for slum dwellers, migrant Kashmiri Pandits and earthquake victims in Latur. The Mumbai riots in 1993 had shaken her and she emerged as a strong critic of religious extremism.
