It has been confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will be playing the role of Rakesh Sharma in his biopic. This comes as a surprise as Shah Rukh Khan had recently denied signing any film other than upcoming film ‘Zero’ on multiple occasions.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor met King Khan multiple times. It is supposed to happen after Aamir Khan left the film and finally Shah Rukh Khan signed it after months of speculation. The film is titled ‘Salute’ and will be directed by Mahesh Mathai. The female lead for the film was locked with Priyanka Chopra onboard however she backed out and confirmed the news after Aamir Khan left the project. Another leading daily’s report suggested Priyanka left the project when Shah Rukh signed it as they don’t work together anymore.

The news was confirmed by a source close to the actor. “Zero is a film which will require a lot of VFX. Shah Rukh will wrap up Zero by April. He will perhaps begin the shoot of Salute by September and will shoot for close to two to three months and wrap its first schedule. The next schedule of Salute will begin from Jan 2019,” said the source.
