Navaratri is towards the end...It was the seventh day of the mother yesterday, which is dedicated to the mother Kalratri. Due to being black, she was called Kalratri. Due to their good fortune, Durga is also called 'Shubhankari'.

It is believed that after worshiping Mata Kalratri, human attains all the accomplishments. Mata Kalratri is very famous among the people who practice black magic. Due to the devotion of the mother, the wicked are destroyed and the obstacles of the planet are dispelled. Kalratri is worshipped in Shaktipeeth of Kalighat.

Kalighat Shaktipeeth: Kalighat Shaktipeeth is in Kolkata, famous for its Kali Mata's temple. The statue in this Shaktipeeth was repaired by Kamdev Brahmachari (formerly known as Jia Gangopadhyay). The main reason for becoming Shaktipeeth was that some fingers of her right leg had fallen on this place. Today this place is the largest temple for the devotees of Kali. Mother's tongue is of gold in this temple.

Famous Tantric Sadhana: The temple of the Kalighat is also famous for the Tantric sadhana. The Kavtatala cremation ground near Kalighat was considered a major center for cremation.

Opening time of temple: The temple of the Kalighat opens at 5 a.m. Closed from 12 noon to 3.30 pm. The temple is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the evening. There are huge crowds on Vijaya Dashmi and Bangla New Year.

How to reach: The main site here can be reached from Dharmatullah by bus and tram to Kalighat. There is a Kolkata metro station in Kalighat. Howrah railway station is seven kms away from Kalighat. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee's ancestral home is in the Kali Ghat area only.
