New Delhi: The UP Central Shia Waqf Board (UPSCWB) on Friday announced that the SC that it aspires to give one-third of land granted to Muslims by Allahabad High Court to Hindus for constructing the Ram Temple.

"For the unity, integrity, peace and harmony in this great country, Shia waqf board is in favor of donating Muslim share of Ayodhya disputed land for building the Ram Temple," Shia Waqf Board's lawyer told Supreme Court as quoted by Times Now.

On the other hand senior counsel Rajiv Dhawan opposed UPSCWB saying Shia Waqf Board has no rights to speak in the case.

Dhawan even likened Babri Masjid's attackers to Hindu Taliban and said the act of destruction is similar to Taliban vandalizing Buddha statues in Bamiyan.

"Just as the Taliban vandalized the Bamiyan, the Hindu Taliban destroyed Babri Masjid," Dhavan asserted in SC.

Dhavan condemned the UP government for taking a stand in the Babri-Ram mandir land clash. "UP govt cannot change the attitude of neutrality on Ayodhya title case. Central government cannot back anyone as it is the legal receiver in the Ram Mandir case.

Dhawan is the lawyer for some Muslim petitioners. On May 17, a special bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra including Justices Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer heard the Hindu group’s submissions. The groups have opposed to the plea of Muslims on 1994 judgment that held that a mosque is not an integral part of prayers offered by Islam followers.
