Shravan Month: Do's and Don't to gain Blessing of Lord Shiva

The fifth month of the solar year is observed as the Shravan, It is considered as the holiest month in India. This month usually begins during late July and ends within the third week of August. Many Hindu devotees observe fasting especially on Monday as it considered as the day of Lord Shiva. Some devotee observes facts on Tuesday and it is also known as ‘Mangala Gauri Varat’.

 

According to Vedas, Shravan month is considered dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva for success and prosperity. This is the month in which Lord Shiva grants blessing and boons to the devotees. It is also considered as the holy as many festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Teej and Naag Panchami.

There are several things which can be considered in order to gain the blessing of Lord Shiva. 

  • One should one woke up at dawn and should take bath and should go to the temple of Lord Shiva and should offer the mixture of water, milk and Bilvapatra, on shivlinga.
  • It is also advised that one should feed fish with dough balls and should also feed cow and poor during this month.
  • Chanting Mahamrityunjay Mantra daily for 108 times makes Lord Shiva happy

  • It is advised that one should eat non-vegetarian food and should avoid alcohol during this month. One should not kill snakes as they are considered as the beloved of Lord Shiva.
