Srinagar: Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Naveed Jatt was gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. He was killed five months after the LeT terrorists and two local militants shoot dead senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari.

One more terrorist along with Jatt was killed following they opened fire on security forces who had launched a cordon and search operation in Kuthpora area of Budgam having information about attendance of militants. The exchange of firing was retaliated by the forces, leading to a gun battle, an official stated.

The authorities have called off internet services in Budgam as a precautionary measure.

Jatt, a Pakistani who had run away from police custody at a Srinagar hospital on February 6, had killed Bukhari along with two other militants on June 14.

The editor-in-chief of English daily Rising Kashmir, Bukhari was shot dead by terrorist when he came out of his office in Press commune and was boarding his car. Two of his safety guards were also killed in this butal incident.
