The man behind the Bhartiya Jana Sangh also referred as the mother of Bhartiya Janata Party, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was born on the 6th of July in the year 1901 to Sri Ashutosh Mukherjee and Jogmaya Devi Mukharjee.

Known for his major contributions in India's freedom, Shyama Prasad graduated from the Presidency College Lincoln's Inn. Mukherjee is known as an Academician, a Barrister and also an activist but more prominently for the values of nationalism and patriotism that he beheld.

He worked as the Minister for Industry and supply during Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru's reign.

After his clash with the prime minister, he left the Indian National Congress and proceeded to form the Bhartiya Jana Sangh in the year 1951.

He also served as the president of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha from the year 1943 to 1946.

He died on the 23rd of June in the year 1953.

His death has been a major mystery till date.

Recently prime minister Narendra Modi, when commenting on his death, stated, “People of this country have sacrificed a lot for the nation, but Congress does not accept the sacrifices they made. Shyama Prasad died for the country, nobody recognized his sacrifice. People were not told the truth about his death. It was Nehru who did not pay heed to Mukherjee’s mother’s letter."

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's vision of patriotism shall always be appreciated.
