Papon has invited controversy after he kissed a minor participant at reality show Holi celebration. A video featured Papon, who was seen applying colour to a female contestant and then kissing her on her lips. The video has gone viral. Papon has been charged for harassment by “inappropriately kissing”.

Singer-Composer Papon is a judge in a singing reality show named Voice India Kids alongside Shaan and Himesh Reshammiya. He posted a live video on Facebook of reality show Holi celebrations and was spotted committing the act in the same.

Following the incident, Runa Bhuyan, a Supreme Court lawyer has approached the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to file a complaint under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) terming the act as “sexual assault”.

Here is an extract from Bhuyan’s complaint:

“I am shocked to see the behaviour of the said singer Angarag Papon Mahanta towards a minor girl where he is seen to be applying colors on a minor girl and inappropriately kissing the said girl. On seeing the video, I am seriously concerned regarding the safety and security of minor girl participating in reality shows across India.”

Papon hasn’t clarified his side yet. No police complaint has been filed.
