Lucknow: Six Kanwariyas including main accused Pappu arrested in connection with attack on Police vehicle on August 7 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, Supreme Court today directed the police to act against those 'kawariyas' who indulge in vandalism and take law in their hands.

 Worth mention here ‘Kanwariyas’ resorted to violence in two districts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. In Bulandshahr, the ‘kanwariyas’ thrashed a police vehicle, forcing the police staff in it to run away. In Meerut, one person was killed and more than 6 injured during casteist violence that blew up during a ‘kanwariya’ yatra on Thursday.

According to SSP Bulandshahr Praveen Ranjan Singh, a scuffle had taken place between two groups led by one Pappu and Deepu over the installation of electricity meter, almost a week before .The issue had been sorted out between the two groups but on Wednesday, Deepu alleged that Pappu had behaved badly with her sister and had given a complaint at Narsena police station against Pappu.

When the police attempted to arrest Pappu, he set off fellow Kanwariyas to attack the police personnel and police vehicle.  A video of the kanwariyas attacking police personnel and vandalizing the vehicle has also rounded on all social media platforms.

On a related note, In Meerut, caste uproar erupted between Dalits and Thakurs while a ‘kanwariya yatra’ was passing through the Udaipur village on Wednesday night. The issue was resolved in the night but on Thursday morning, one group went to the house of the other group to complain which led to a fresh attack of violence in which a youth named Rohit was killed and six persons, including two women were hurt.
