SILCHAR: Six Trinamool Congress MPs and two MLAs detained at Silchar Airport, as the leading news agency ANI reported over NRC Assam issue.

Our delegation was detained at Silchar airport. It is our democratic right to meet people, this is a super emergency like situation: Lashing out at the PM Modi led Centre government, Derek O Brien, senior Trinamool Congress MP told ANI.

On the other hand the police have claimed that the delegation of Mamta Banerjee led TMC members were detained as a precautionary measure as Section 144 is imposed in place. While TMC claimed that they did not know that Section 144 was not in force and that they had no cleared intent of breaking the law and order.

Meanwhile, The party members have alleged that they were manhandled at the airport.

 Wort mention here the final draft of NRC for Assam was published on Monday wherein Almost 40 lakh people from the state have been blacklisted from the draft. Yesterday in a press meet BJP president Amit Shah asserted that Those, whose names have been missing from the draft, have been given two months to submit the necessary documents to prove their citizenship.
