On Thursday, Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) expressed her opinion on H. N. Singh being chosen as the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. She asserted that his selection should not be seen as the lack of unity in the Opposition.
Talking about the same, she asserted, "Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose." A reporter asked her if the unity in the opposition, the UPA had broken, to which she replied, "No...why?"

It is worth mentioning that Harivansh Narayan Singh won the Deputy chairman elections by 125 votes, while the opposition candidate got 105 votes.

Two MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party had declared that they would boycott the Rajya Sabha meeting.

 

  congratulated Singh for being elected as the new Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman.

Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, congratulated the newly elected Deputy chairman of the Lower House and tweeted, "I congratulate Harivansh Narayan Singh for being elected as the new Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman.”

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also congratulated Harivansh Narayan Singh, on his victory and tweeted regarding the same.

Also, soon after Singh’s victory, PM Modi left his seat and walked up to Singh, shook hands with him and congratulated him on his victory.
