Kidambi Srikanth who became world no. 1 in Badminton  plays under gopichand.

He was a very playful , not serious at all type of a kid when his parents decided to put him in the academy just because his elder brother was playing there. He would do nothing better sitting at home and so this idea struck his parents.

Initially when he played under Gopichand , he was put into doubles and showed a little interest because he seemed to be a little careless but observing some of his extra commendable skills , he had put him in singles.

Srikanth initially drew inspiration from Gopichand’s all England victory in 2001.

He also got a picture clicked with Gopi being his fan, when he was eight years old.

“I never knew he would achieve so much  through badminton, i asked him to play only because i wanted him to get a decent government job but he really worked hard and all the credit goes to his coach, i cannot be more happy. Now, all i want for him is to achieve more laurels for the country and bring gold in Olympics” said Srikanth’s father.

“ It feels so good to see your student not only play excellently but also breaks your records, i feel so proud of his achievements” says Gopichand.
