Voicing concerns over China's OBOR(One Belt and One Road )Initiative India, Japan and the US said that connectivity initiatives must not weaken sovereignty.

Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj had a ministerial trilateral with US secretary of state Rex Tillerson and the Japanese foreign minister, Taro Kono, for theUNGA(UN General Assembly) in which, views on maritime security, connectivity and propagation issues were discussed.

With the US and Japan exhorting India to act for having an important effect  ensuring of  full implementation of UN sanctions on North Korea, Swaraj reiterated India's condemnation of Pyongyang's current actions and stated that its proliferation linkages be discovered and those responsible be held accountable. This is seen as another at an angle reference to Pakistan and China after the India-Japan joint statement, concerned after Modi-Abe summit in Gandhinagar, which had uttered the same feeling of emotions.

"The ministers emphasised the need for ensuring freedom of navigation, respect for international law and peaceful resolution of disputes," ministry of external affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

China claims sovereignty over all of South China Sea.

However, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan have counter claims.

India and China last month ended a 73-day standoff in Doka La area of the Sikkim sector that was triggered by China's move to build a road in the border area.

Swaraj also deplored North Korea's recent actions and stated that its proliferation linkages must be explored and those involved be held accountable, Kumar said.
