Sushma Swaraj to co-chair 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue today

Tokyo: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday landed in Japan for a three-day visit. Here she was received by Indian Ambassador in Japan Sujan Chinoy and Ambassador Hideaki Hoshi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

She will co-chair the strategic dialogue with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono and review the entire array of bilateral ties between both countries.

The 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue will be held on Thursday.

Upon her arrival at Tokyo, the Embassy of India in Japan said in a tweet.

"Yokoso! Upon her arrival at Tokyo, EAM @SushmaSwaraj was warmly received by Indian Ambassador @SujanChinoy and Ambassador Hideaki Hoshi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. #KonnichiwaNamaste,"

 In the event India-Japan Strategic Dialogue, "the two sides will review all aspects of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest," Ministry of External Affairs had said in a statement in New Delhi on Tuesday.

India and Japan share a Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Japan in 2014 while Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited India in September 2017.

 During the visits, bilateral relations have been strengthened in diverse sectors in recent years. India and Japan share a strong cooperation in the areas of nuclear energy, defence and science and technology.
