New Delhi: Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Diwali 2017 said that India will make available medical visas in all pending cases in which it is reasonable. She commented on a positive response to such requests made by Pakistani nationals.

On humble request from a Pakistani woman named Amna Shameen for Visa, Sushma Swaraj said, please contact the Indian High Commission in Pakistan. We will consent to this. Shamen's father is already in Delhi for treatment and she wants to meet her. Sushma tweeted that on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, India will now make available medical visas in all pending cases in which it is justified and reasonable. Yesterday Sushma had instructed the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to give a visa to a Pakistani child for treatment in India.

Narendra Modi, who arrived in the Gurej Sector in Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers, had requested Sushma on Twitter to give medical visa to Abdullah for medical treatment. Kashif told him that Abdullah had to inspect after liver transplant in India. Sushma tweeted, answering Kashif that your child's treatment should not be affected due to lack of medication. I have asked the Indian High Commission to release a medical visa. Kashif said that the child's medicines are about to end and he needs instant medical advice in India. In another tweet yesterday, Sushma said that the medical visa has also been approved for the Pakistani woman who wants to have lever surgery in India.
