Sushma Swaraj departs for India on conclusion of a successful Nepal visit

Kathmandu [Nepal] Feb 2 (NT): External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj, during her two day visit to Nepal, congratulated the newly formed Government and its people for successfully conducting the three-tier elections in Nepal and assured to every possible support of New Delhi to Kathmandu as per the release of the statement from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

"Sushma Swaraj conveyed to all political leaders of Nepal that the Government of India is looking forward to working with the democratically elected Government to take forward bilateral ties to newer heights for mutual benefit, and to support the Government of Nepal," MEA, released  a statement,

Swaraj was in Kathmandu on February 1 and 2, on an official visit in an effort to reach out to the country's political leadership, ahead of the formation of a new government by a Communist alliance.

Sushama Swaraj "is the first high-level visitor from India after the successful holding of Parliamentary and first ever Provincial Assembly elections in Nepal in November-December 2017," the official statement added.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba at Kathmandu and congratulated him for the successful conduct of recently concluded elections.

The two leaders exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral relations to take ahead age-old historical ties between India and Nepal. The External Affairs Minister also paid a courtesy call to President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Kathmandu. In her engagements with the President, Both leaders focused on advancing multi-dimensional India-Nepal relations.
