Vankudre,  is also recognized as V Shantaram, on his 116th birth anniversary Google dedicate a doodle in his memory. The multitalented film persona was born on November 18, 1901, in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur district.

 V Shantaram, affectionately known as Annasaheb, He is well-known for films such as Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani (1946), Amar Bhoopali (1951), Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje (1955), Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957), Navrang (1959), Duniya Na Mane (1937) and Pinjra (1972).

The Google doodle portrays three films produced and directed by V Shantaram in the 1950s and these films honored by several national and international awards

 V Shantaram embarked on his film career doing odd jobs in the film industry. He directed as many as 55 films in a whole career span over five decades.

His film career came on track from the Gandharva theatre company and V Shantaram later coupled the Maharashtra Film Company as a spot boy. Baburao Painter took Shantaram under his umbrella and trained him for acting and direction.

Netaji Palkar in 1927was his first film as a director.

In 1929, Shantaram established the Prabhat film company in Kolhapur and His first film at the talkies was Ayodhya ka Raja.

Shantaram was bestowed Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1985 and  also was honored the Padma Vibhushan in 1992.

V. Shantaram met with angles on 30 October 1990 in Mumbai. The V. Shantaram Award was bestowed  by Central Government and Maharashtra State Government in his honor.
