Kabul: Ten militants including a Taliban commander, Mullah Manan, have been killed as government forces stormed Taliban positions in the northern Baghlan province on Sunday.

According to the repory of Xinhua, The government forces launched operations against Taliban fighters in Bagh-e-Shamal area on the outskirts of provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri on Sunday afternoon. Key Taliban commander Mullah Manan was among 10 killed on the spot.

According to the source,Taliban militants stormed security checkpoints in Akazai area of Bala Murghab in the western Badghis province on Sunday, killing 14 security personnel and injuring 15 others, a member of provincial council.

Army spokesman Mohammed Hanif Rezai said that the government forces would continue to chase the militants elsewhere in the province. Taliban militants didn't comment on the incident.
