Coimbatore: A dalit student hacked to death just because he did intercaste marriage and that is also opposed by families.In Triupur district, on 14 March, the boy was brutally attacked by a gang with sickles in public view and resulting in the death of the husband.

According to police, when the newly weds Shankar( a Dalit student) and Kausalya, addressing from Palani in Dindigul district, they were waiting for bus at the bus-stop of Udumalpet, a group of armed men came on a motorcycle and afraid them with stickles before fleeing.

They also said, Polise send the bleeding couple to the Government Hospital and on the way Shankar died.Dr. said Kausalya’s condition is very critical. As per the police the gang was from the girl’s family.It is said that they both from different castes, had fallen in love and had got married against their families.The investigation goes on.
