Domestic commercial vehicles sales of Tata Motors rose 24.35 percent to 59,378 units in July-August. This increase after the decline of 15.62 percent in the first quarter of the current financial year. During the July-August of the year 2016-17, the company's domestic commercial vehicles sales were 47,750 units.

In the April-June quarter of the current financial year, the company's domestic commercial vehicles sales declined by 15.62 percent to 66,397 units from 78,693 units in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Girish Wagh, chief of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, said, "After the slow growth in the first quarter, sales of our commercial vehicles in the domestic market increased by 15 percent in July and 34 percent in August."

With its new Chairman N Chandrasekaran paying more attention to addressing the bleeding domestic business, Tata Motors has embarked on a turnaround programme with the next 6-9 months being critical as against an earlier planned business transition to be achieved in the next 2-3 years.
