Terrorists trapped in J&K's Anantnag, encounter underway

Jammu and Kashmir: An encounter has started in Anantnag's Munward. 1-2 terrorists are believed to be trapped. Police, Army and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) are carrying out operations. Mobile internet services have been suspended in the district.

According to early reports, the operation was launched following detailed intelligence information about the presence of a number of terrorists in Anantnag's Munward locality.

The security forces have laid a cordon and the militants are believed to be trapped from all sides.

There has been an unexpected spurt in the terrorist activities in the Kashmir Valley with several incidents of attack on security forces and civilians reported in recent times.

Three days back, a terrorist linked to the JeM was killed by the security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. The slain militant was a Pakistani national.

Just lately, an outfit of unidentified terrorists barged into the residence of a forest department official and gunned him down. The official was 38-year-old Tariq Ahmad Malik. He later succumbed to his injuries. The incident took place in Zandpal area at Kunzer in Tangmarg, Baramulla.

Before this to the Baramulla attack, militants had shot dead three policemen in Pulwama. J&K Police afterward said that a strange number of terrorists barged into the house of Inspector Muhammad Ashraf Dar in Larve village in Pulwama district and killed him.
