Shiva, the Lord of destruction is the supreme power who is believed to run our Universe and control all the negative and positive energies prevailing on our planet and even out of it.

Shiva is a mystery yet the simplest thought. He still continues to be an extremely fascinating dimension for those who wish to explore Hinduism.

Shiva means "Embodiment of Grace". When you gaze at the Idol of Shiva, you find a lot of interesting things associated with him. Here are the 5 most crucial aspects of Shiva.

1. Trayambakam: Trayambakam refers to the third eye of Shiva, that he opens when he is into a rage and burns everything that gets into his path and leads it to ashes.

2. Chandra: The crescent moon that Shiva wears on his head is known as Chandra. Since Shiva wears a Chandra, he has also been referred to as Chandrashekhar.

3. Bhasma: the ashes that Shiva applies to his entire body, symbolizing that nothing this earth is permanent and one day everything shall go back to where it came from.

4. Neelkantha: Shiva's throat appears blue in colour since he drank the poison called Halahala during the Samudra Manthan.

5. Gangadhar: Shiva is believed to be the origin of Ganga. Ganga is believed to flow from his matted hair.
