GST Council on 10 November announced the reduction in GST rate from 28 per cent to 18 per cent on 176 items and tax on two commodities was reduced to 12 per cent. But in spite of this, if companies take more time to reduce products (MRP), action will be taken against them.

Union Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia gave this information, in an interview to Doordarshan, he said that if the products that have been cut in GST are not cut in the MRP, then the action will be taken against the company that makes the product.

Hansmukh Aditya also said that the retailers and companies cannot be sold expensive by saying old stock. He said that the government has given the facility of input credit tax to the companies and traders through which they can claim more taxes given on their behalf but will argue that because of the old stock, the customer is in the GST rates The benefit of the deduction cannot be given immediately, the government will not accept this argument.

A new MRP has to be installed on the product.  Adiya said in the interview that the government has asked all the companies and the retellers to replace the old MRP from all the items till December 31 and replace it with a new MRP sticker. But this does not mean that companies and retailers should wait for December, but the reduced new prices should be implemented immediately with effect.
